We're back! Michael,Myself, Arianna and Grandma Baird went to visit Ari's great grandparents in Medicine Hat, Alberta. This was Ari's first trip and boy was she great. We left Saturday October 6th at 6:00am. Getting Arianna up was easy as pie as she was already up eating. Into the truck she went to pick up Grandma and off we went. We traveled all the way to Kamloops where we got gas, had some breakfast at Timmy's and gave Ari a chance to stretch her legs and change her bum, then back in for the long haul - we made it to Lake Louise, and then had another change and back in, this time we drove until Medicine Hat. I haven't been out to Alberta in a long time, and it was really fun looking at all the flat land (seriously, I liked it) although the drive from Calgary to Medicine Hat was quite LONG, but we made it. This is the first time Great Grandma and Grandpa had seen there newest grand-daughter, and they were just thrilled. First Arianna gave GGrandma a big smile, which obviously she loved. Unfortunately, GGrandpa did not get the same response, immediately the smile went downwards and out came the water works. This lasted for about 2-3 hours. I assured Grandpa it wasn't his fault, and she was probably just exhausted from the long car ride here, as she had been an amazing girl and didn't really cry the whole way and just needed to release! Anyway, the trip turned out to be a great one, she eventually loosened up a bit and was great with G & G Durk, and she was all smiles for pretty much the rest of the trip. I unfortunately had a cold, and had passed that down to her so she was a little raspy, and snotty! We had quite the visits while we were out there as well, we travelled to the tiniest town in Alberta called Empress, and this is where my mother in law Gloria grew up. It literally reminded me of a Ghost Town, it was in the middle of nowhere and still had some very old (almost 100 years) homes still standing, and vacant streets, churches and the old boarded up hospital. It was quite something to see, as people still live there (probably around 100 people, If we're lucky)This is where we met Arianna's Great Great Great Auntie Marie! She's 82 years old and was such a nice and funny lady, and Arianna had no problems adapting to her. After looking at the neat old sights and old home of Gloria's we headed back to "The Hat" as they like to call it. (also the drive out was about 1 - 1/2 hour) The next day we headed out to a not as small town - but small enough called Oyen. This is where she met her Great Great Great Great Auntie Vi, and Great Great Great Great Uncle Dick. We stayed there for about 5 hours and listened to them talk about the good 'ol days . Also, Auntie Vi & Uncle Dick, were 88 (Vi) and 91 (Dick) And they were doing pretty well and looked great for there age, so after the chatting and getting our fifth generation pictures we headed back to "The Hat."
I must also mention during this whole trip I don't think I have EVER eaten as much. Great Grandma had kept us well fed. Also, I have never met a woman who moves around as much as Grandma. I can promise you, she did not sit down for probably 2 hours the whole trip. She was amazing!
Anyways, we also did a few trips up to a neat lake called Elk water, and Reasor - all with some beautiful sights. We also saw 2 Moose. (HUGE) and got some great pics and videos.
Needless to say we had a great time.
Arianna is up, I'll post pictures and say more later.
I must also add, Arianna is teething like a mad woman - we can feel about 2-3, there coming and going so it will be awhile, but that doesn't help the fact that she's going through a lot of pain and isn't very happy.
Oh yes, I was also in Saskatchewan only because the small town we were in was on the border of Alberta and Sask, so at least I've been to 3 provinces; hehe.
HAPPY 6 MONTH BIRTHDAY Arianna!
Last thing - the pics of the land & sky were all taken out of the window of the moving van, so I thought they were pretty cool considering!
