We got my baby's ears pierced. Now, before I had Arianna I would have had no problems with getting my future children's ear's pierced, but when Arianna arrived we decided that we would wait until she was older for her to make that decision. Well for her birthday her Grandpa Baird got her a gift card. (earing's and piercing included) The card lasted two years and we did tell my father in law that we would wait a few years, but as Kristy and I were in the mall yesterday I decided (with a lot of coaxing from Kristy) that I would just to do. And so I did, we walked into the store, picked out the earrings, and set up on the chair for what I pressumed to be D-Day. Sure enough just placing the ink on Arianna's ear's got her all fired up; and by fired up I mean a HUGE scream with some head shakes added to the mix. With the ginormous crocidle tears I was "this close" to getting up and leaving until Kristy said "Do you want me to sit with her" and I said sure. As I stood with Sophia - who had tears in her eyes for Arianna, I watched my baby getting both ears punched at the same time. OH, the pain (not for Ariannna, for Mommy) I'm sure it hurt Arianna, but my heart seemed to break in four different places. After about 1 1/2 minutes, the studdered cries slowed down, and the tears stopped, and my heart seemed to pick up the pieces. This seems like a big story for just getting her ears pierced, but it was quite the hard 10 minutes for me.(us)
Also, the reason you don't hear Michael's name in this story was because first it was spontaneous, and second the big chicken couldn't handle it! He probably would have had more tears than Arianna, no Mommy wants to see their little girl cry, but no Daddy can handle their little girls cry. But when we showed up to work to pick up Daddy, he thought she looked sooooo purdy! And rightfully so, she was blingin.'
I don't have any pictures yet as we've been quite busy, and she is in bed now, but I will post some soon.
Also, I attended a memorial today for our Dear family friend, Louise. At the memorial a pamphlet of pictures and quotes and stories was made in rememberance, and this particular poem was left by a unknown person - found by her daughter, and it really touched my heart and made me realize and understand why all these wonderful people we know have to leave us!
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not found,
He closed his arms around you and Whispered "come with me"
Your smile is gone forever
Your hand we cannot touch.
All we have is memories
Of the ones we love so much.
He took you in his garden
And laid you there to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
Because he only takes the best.
RIP Louise.
