I don't get it!

Now, I know my blog is normally quite happy, but today I'm just having a pretty rotten day. I'm so upset with the Government, and in particular the part of it that gives people Student Loans. Don't get me wrong I was happy I was given the loans so I was able to pay for school, in which I wouldn't have been able to go if it weren't for them, but.....my problem is repaying. As you all can see I have a baby :) and last year unfortunately I did not work enough hours to receive maternity leave, so re-paying a student loan of 178 dollars a month is a little hard. I have been trying for months and months and months to get Interest Relief, which would tie us over for a little while until I am back at work and able to start paying it off, but everytime I applied there was ALWAYS something missing, ALWAYS something that needed to be sent back to them and which would have to be re-processed. And, I did what I was told, I faxed, I mailed and I called; to find out again, it was too late and I needed to re-apply. Well this last time, I got everything in order. I put a copy of my marriage cert, pay information, and a letter in one envelope and mailed it off. Except this time I did not fax it. Two weeks later I phone to see if they got my information. Of course you have to do the typical, state your name, address and all that bologne, so I do (because they don't have my married name yet) I say Sara Anderson, and they say Nope, well they've changed my name. So I'm assuming they got my information, as I stated above all of it was in the ONE envelope I sent. Nope, apparently they didn't get all the paperwork they needed, just the marriage cert copy to change my last name. I for one find it pretty funny that all the important information is pretty much thrown out the window, and not the name change. How can you tell me you didn't get that information? And what can I do, nothing. I can call in everyday, cry, and talk to Supervisors to get it sorted out. It still does nothing, instead they send my $14,560 student loan to collections. THANKS:) And lets not forget, it has to be paid in full by December 23rd! Are you kidding? No, of course not it's the government.
I'm very upset about this, because if you know me you know I haven't had a good run in with the credit bureau, but I have been working really hard to fix it, and pay owed debts, here and there when I can. Now, I have $14,560 sitting there showing month, by month,by month that it's not being paid. Well I called the Canada Revenue Agency - Non Tax Department (where my file had to sent) to find that the minimum balance is $450 a month to pay off. Wow, considering I couldn't really afford the $178 before (THE REASON I WAS APPLYING FOR INTEREST RELIFE) I'm pretty positive I can't afford the $450.
My big thing is this. The government has no problems giving people money who don't deserve it (you know what I'm talking about) but can take $450 a month from someone who is working despereately to fix past mistakes, and raising a family. So, what do they want us to do, sell our house, live on the streets, and then give us money!
I'm sorry for the whiney posty, it just frusterates me so bad that everytime you take 2 steps forward you go ahead and take 10 back. Now, I normally try to be positive about things, but when BIG things like this happen it just has a tendancy to ruin your day.
A positive today though. my sweet sweet baby! ARIANNA :)
Christmas is coming in 1 week, I absolutely can't believe it. We got a few presents, as Arianna will probably like the box opposed to the actual gift, but we know Grand-Parents are all ready to spoils!
This is my first Christmas away from home, and with a new Husband and Daughter, and am very excited. It feels way different, but awesome!

:)
Also, congrats to my friend Kristy and her family - she's pregnant again and VERY excited. Yaa for you guys :)

Hang in there Sara - these things have a way of working out and I hope they will for you soon. I'm glad to hear that even though you're upset with that stress you're still very happy and positive about the rest of your life! You deserve only the best and it will all come right in the end, I'm sure. Love Auntie Moe
